About Workplace Conflict

Resolving Your Conflict: An Interactive Guide

Answer

When you are trying to establish the facts in a situation, determine wrongdoing, or establish responsibility, you should consult with your Human Resources Department, a Union Official, or a lawyer. Processes such as an Investigation or Arbitration may also be beneficial and appropriate.

As you consider these alternatives, we encourage you to think about the conflict and your interests. How has the conflict affected you, and do you need to maintain a working relationship with the other person(s)? Conflict can cause anger, frustration, and sadness. It can make us lash out and seek retribution. These feelings are normal and understandable. But assigning blame may not bring the closure you want.
